Periodontal care
(Gum care)

Periodontics includes all of the structures that surround the tooth: ligaments, the alveolar bone, gums, and oral mucosa. Without adequate support, the tooth can begin to move and will eventually need to be extracted. The warning sign of periodontal disease is gum inflammation or bleeding, with or without pain. Without the proper screening, gingivitis can spread to the bone that supports your teeth. This can lead to progressive deterioration. Prevention and periodic visits to the dentist are the best ways to detect and control bacteria that can affect your oral health. Scaling and planing procedures may also be recommended.
